Available Historical Data

Historical data in Semrush enables you to analyze your competitors’ marketing strategies over time. This will help you identify trends, understand performance changes, and make data-driven decisions.

Depending on the toolkit and database, Semrush’s historical data can go as far back as January 2012. This guide will show you where to find historical data in Semrush, how far back it goes, and what subscription you need to access it.

To access SEO historical data, you’ll need at least a Guru-level subscription or higher to the SEO Toolkit.

In Domain Analytics and Keyword Analytics, SEO historical data is available on a month-to-month basis, dating back to January 2012 for select databases.

These data points represent averages for the particular month and can be accessed through the Date selector seen at the top of the report.

The tools in Semrush’s Social Media Toolkit track engagement, posting activity, and content performance across multiple platforms. Depending on the tool and network, you may see limited data from before the date you set up a campaign.

Social Tracker

When you add a brand to analyze in Social Tracker, the tool collects some historical data previous to when you start tracking.

From the date you set up your Social Tracker, here's how far back you can see data on each platform:

  • YouTube: 28 days or 1,000 videos
  • X (formerly Twitter): 30 days or 3,000 tweets
  • Facebook: 70 days or 2,000 posts
  • Instagram: 100 days or 2,000 posts

Data collection continues from the moment your campaign is activated.

Social Content Insights

Social Content Insights collects performance data daily, but there are platform-specific limits on how far back data is gathered:

  • Facebook: 90 days
  • Instagram: 90 days
  • TikTok: 15 days
  • LinkedIn: 30 days
  • X (Twitter): 9 days
  • Pinterest: 85 days

This tool does not provide retroactive data beyond these limits.

Social Analytics

Social Analytics shows post-level performance data, with both time and volume limits based on the platform:

  • Facebook: Last 90 days (up to 500 posts)
  • Instagram: Last 90 days (up to 2,000 posts)
  • TikTok: Last 15 days (up to 100 posts)
  • LinkedIn: Last 30 days (up to 2,000 posts)

To access social media historical data, you need a subscription to the Semrush Social Toolkit.
